Energy Storage Solutions: 50MW Photovoltaics Power Project
Jinwu Road Phase III Photovoltaic Power Project
The Jinwu Road Phase III Photovoltaic (PV) Power Project is the first grid-connected solar-plus-storage power plant in Jinchang City, marking a major step toward clean energy development in the region.
Project Highlights
-
Construction Timeline: Began on December 10 last year; achieved full-capacity grid connection readiness by February 10 this year.
-
Installed Capacity: 50 MW PV power plant with integrated storage.
-
Annual Generation: Up to 95 million kWh.
-
Environmental Impact: Reduces approximately 8,000 tons of CO₂ emissions annually.
-
Energy Storage: Equipped with a 10 MW / 20 MWh system supporting peak shaving, frequency regulation, and peak–valley load shifting.
-
Grid Benefits: Enhances grid stability, flexibility, and operational safety.

Integration of Energy Storage
With the rapid expansion of solar PV and new energy industries, energy storage has become a mandatory requirement for new PV power plants. Typically, storage capacity must equal 20% of the installed PV capacity.
For the Jinwu Road Phase III Project:
-
Storage Construction Start: April 25
-
Completion: June 10
-
Quality Inspection: Passed testing on June 18, enabling official grid connection and operation.
The storage system is installed just 500 meters from the central control room. Designed with containerized “power bank” units, each station integrates converters, transformers, and switchgear inside outdoor container modules.
Containerized Unit Features
-
Independent power supply system
-
Fire alarm and detection system
-
Lighting and emergency evacuation system
-
Safety and emergency response system
-
Automated control and protection systems
This high-integration design ensures safety, reliability, and operational efficiency, while delivering essential grid services.

Energy Storage System Overview
The energy storage station consists of three units, each containing:
-
1 converter & step-up cabin
-
2 battery cabins
At a charging power of 10 MW, the system reaches full charge in two hours, storing 20 MWh (20,000 kWh) of electricity.
Energy Management System (EMS)
The system includes an advanced EMS that integrates data from:
-
Battery Management System (BMS)
-
Storage converters
-
Meters
-
Control and monitoring devices
Through unified data monitoring, the EMS enables comprehensive oversight of:
-
System operating status
-
Fault detection
-
Power generation & consumption data
-
Storage efficiency
-
Battery performance
This integrated platform enhances efficiency, reliability, and intelligent management, ensuring optimal performance of the PV + storage plant.
