Factory BESS Solution 15MW/30MWh Liquid-cooled Energy Storage Project

Yiwu Factory Energy Storage Project – Phase I

In April, Phase I of the Yiwu factory energy storage station—equipped with Sanoenergy’s 2.5MW/5MWh liquid-cooled energy storage system—was successfully commissioned and connected to the grid.

  • Phase I Capacity: 15MW/30MWh

  • System Configuration: 6 × 2.5MW/5MWh liquid-cooled containerized BESS units

Key Functions of C&I Energy Storage

Unlike household storage, commercial and industrial (C&I) systems focus on:

  • On-site renewable utilization: Maximizing self-consumption of PV power to boost renewable energy absorption.

  • Peak-valley arbitrage: Reducing costs by capitalizing on electricity price differences.

  • Backup supply: Providing reliable emergency power for the factory.

Project Highlights

  • Integrated Solar + Storage: 21MW PV + 15MW/30MWh storage (Phase I) – a model large-scale solar-plus-storage project.

  • Expansion Underway: Phase II (20MW/40MWh) will bring total capacity to 35MW/70MWh.

  • Grid Access Limit: Maximum access ≤ 2.5MW.

  • Solution: Six modular 2.5MW/5MWh systems balance charging and discharging to achieve peak shaving and valley filling.

Technical Advantages of the Liquid-Cooled System

  • Protection & Adaptability: IP54 rating, reliable in harsh conditions.

  • Battery Compatibility: Supports mainstream 280–320Ah cells.

  • Efficiency Improvements:

    • +14.2% energy density

    • +6.7% assembly efficiency (patented frameless liquid-cooling plate)

  • Optimized Design: Higher space utilization and stable long-term performance.

Safety & Performance Features

✔ Precision thermal management with accurate temperature control
✔ Heat-conducting insulation design, +10% heat exchange efficiency
✔ Multi-layer insulation and electrical protection
✔ Dual water-and-gas fire suppression system

Visual Impact

The Phase I storage containers stand neatly in rows, resembling golden-armored guardians under the sun—safeguarding both the grid and factory operations.
